WHAT IS A BRAZILIAN WAXING?
For a WOMEN Brazilian is the waxing of everything from the vagina, including the labia, to the anus. Not one hair is left standing and having your legs up in the air, now, turn over and stick your rump in the air to get your anus waxed. Every esthetician/waxer may have different positions and different angles for you to be in...but it's all the same.
For a MEN Brazilian is the waxing of everything including the penis, the sac and the anus. You will have to bend over. Some men will experience an ERECTION, but typically men don't because this isn't exactly a pleasurable experience. Don't worry if you do have an erection, that's when you can more easily wax the shaft.
For BOTH, this is not a hand off sport and not a time to decide that you are SHY. You will need to help pull the skin taut, move the penis from side to side, move and hold the labia, etc. Your waxer should be experienced by letting you know what needs to be done and be reassuring when you need it.
HOW MUCH DOES WAXING HURT?
Well it is a little uncomfortable when it comes over the sensitive areas! But as soon as it is over...it is over, but depends on the customer. I think the anticipation is the worst. I always try to talk with customers, keeping their minds busy with fun conversation. That way, they don't concentrate on the pain.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A BRAZILIAN?
It takes 20-45 minutes. It all depends on the customer. The first time usually takes the longest. The second time is much faster.
HOW DO I PREPARE BEFORE GETTING A BRAZILIAN WAX?
1. LET THE HAIRS GROW FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT.
2. If the hairs are very long, trim them to 1/4inch. This ensures a faster, much less uncomfortable procedure and cleaner, smoother results.
3. If you have time prior to your appointment, please shower so that hairs are easily to be picked up by wax.
FIRST TIME HAVING A BRAZILIAN?
Expect a little skin irritation. If you get waxed regularly, your skin will become accustomed and you should not have the irritation. If you only do it once or twice a year expect to go through this each time. It is normal to get tiny whiteheads after your first or second time of being waxed. This too shall pass if you keep waxing. Just lightly exfoliate with scrub to avoid pore blockage after 24 hours and use either soothing lotion for a couple days.
EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE!!-- Tips to ingrown hairs
Starting 2 to 3 days after being waxed...exfoliate at least 2 to 3 times per week in the shower. Exfoliation will help get rid of the dead skin cells and help "lift" the hairs growing out. Pubic hairs are curly, and will either come out and grow right back into the skin or will try to embed themselves under the layers of dead skin cells. Either way, your skin does not recognize them as being part of your body...it views them as invaders, just like a splinter and will send the antibodies there to try to destroy it. You can also get yourselves a great pair of pointed tweezers...not to pluck, but to lift the ends of the hairs out. It is very important that you do not pluck or shave in between waxing if you want optimum results! A body brush is recommended. There are also products on the market such as organic scrub which can also aid in bumps and ingrown hairs.
DOES WAXING CAUSE INGROWN HAIRS?
No. waxing prevents ingrown hairs. Some women have serious problems with ingrown hairs, though, so it doesn't matter what kind of depilation you use on them. One way to prevent ingrown hairs is to use a wash cloth to exfoliate waxing area to avoid dead cells accumulated.
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO GET WAXED?
Typically you will need to get waxed every 4 to 6 weeks...go any sooner and you will remove some of the hairs but not all of them which will throw off your waxing schedule and will not give you clean wax results. Let it grow too long and you may need to trim but this will also be a little bit more painful. But still it depends on how fast your hair grows. That varies from person to person.
WHAT WAX SHOULD BE USED?
For a BRAZILIAN, a hard (stripless) wax should be used. For all other body parts either a strip wax or hard wax is optional.
WHAT STEPS ARE TAKEN TO GET THE BRAZILIAN WAX DONE?
After cleaning the area to be waxed and dusting it with powder, was is applied a little at a time. We apply our organic hard on sensitive areas and soft wax on bigger area with muslin strips to remove quickly. I apply a special calming lotion / oil to the area, which reduces redness, soothes and softens, and acts as a natural antiseptic.
WHEN WILL THE REDNESS BE COMPLETELY GONE?
Drawing from my own experience, all redness is gone as early as 30 minutes after the procedure. It may take until the next morning for people with sensitive skin. It varies from person to person.
WHY IS WAXING BETTER THAN OTHER FORMS OF DEPILATION?
Every time you get waxed, your hairs become weaker, making the process easier and faster over time. It is fast, and the skin looks and feels softer as well as lasts longer than after any other method of depilation.
CAN I DO A BRAZILIAN AT HOME?
Not a great idea unless you are already an experienced waxer. Being inexperienced can lead to bruising and/or the loss of skin. Let a professional do it. But if you feel like you must try it...practice on your upper leg first until you get the hang of it and feel confidant putting hot wax on your genital area.
