Makeup Tips

I like to wear dark eye makeup for dressier occasions, but I've read that lining both your top and bottom lid with black liner makes the eye seem smaller. I still love my black eye liner, so is there a way for me to wear it without making my eyes seems smaller than they really are?
Actually lining both your top and bottom not only looks more finished but can make your eye look bigger. The key is lining all the way across. If you line just the top or the bottom, it can make your eye look smaller and unfinished. Try using different colors to really make eyes look larger. Line the top with a black or dark brown/black and line the bottom with a dark brown. Black on the top and bottom can look heavy and make you look tired. Also, experiment with rich navy and deep plums as well. Last but not least, wear at least two to three coats of black mascara to finish the look.

I've noticed that a majority of my lipsticks are in the brown color family. I'd like to wear something that has more red in it, but I feel like my choices are limited because anything I like is too bright. Should I just stick to wearing and buying lipsticks with brown undertones?
If you feel that red is too dark, try a gloss. Gloss is great because it's a sheer version of the colors you want to wear. Also, soft pinks are a great way to brighten up your skin tone. If you want to experiment with colors, your best bet is to go to the drugstore and by some gloss palettes. Revlon makes a few and Almay has some great colors in their Whipped Gloss line. It's a great way to be able to try the colors you want without it being a major investment.

How do I figure out what eyebrow shape is best for me, and then how do I pluck my way to that shape?
Look at your natural arch and follow that. Your eyebrow should start at the base of your nose, then arch over the middle of your eye and end at the corner of your lid. The easiest way to see this is by taking a pencil and holding it straight up against your nose and the inside part of your eye. This will give you your starting point. Then moving only the top of the pencil, move it to the center of your eye. This is where your arch should be. Moving the top again to the outside corner of your eye, this is where your brow should end. Pluck the little strays around your natural shape. If you're still tweezer shy, go to a professional and have them shaped professionally the first time. From there it is really easy to maintain the regrowth by tweezing or waxing. Hope that helps!

I want to wear a shimmer powder but don't know where I should apply it. Can you help?
We all want that glam look! Apply a shimmer powder on your cheekbones, on the bridge of your nose and on your collarbones for instant glamour! And use a blush or powder brush for the best application.

What is a good way to get rid of freckles?
First of all, why do you want to get rid of your freckles?! They are so fabulous! In fact, in all the photo shoots I've been on, they've requested that freckles show through the makeup. But if you must, you can wear a sheer to full coverage makeup to soften the appearance of your freckles. Try the Global Goddess Complexion Perfection Foundation that can easily be built from sheer to full coverage by using your fingers. You should apply it directly on your freckles by patting it on for a heavier coverage, The rest of your face should have sheer makeup so you don't look overdone.
